My daughter demanded the three million dollars from the sale of my farm, and when I refused, my oldest son punched me hard enough to break a rib. K – usnews

Marcus backed toward the wall, swinging the g/u/n between the officers, Daniel, and me.

“No one moves!”

The lead officer spoke evenly. “Marcus, place the g/u/n on the floor.”

“How do you know my name?”

“We’ve been listening.”

Marcus looked at the broken security panel.

The officer continued. “The audio feed remained active after you damaged the display.”

Rachel began to cry.

Marcus stared at her.

“You did this.”

She shook her head frantically.

“You brought me here. You gave me the papers. You said it would be easy.”

“Marcus, please.”

“You said she had no one.”

Rachel crawled backward.

“I didn’t know about Daniel.”

“You knew everything.”

He turned the g/u/n toward her.

The officers raised their we/@/pons.

“Don’t,” the lead officer warned.

Marcus’s hand trembled.

For a moment, I saw exactly what Rachel had seen when he first pulled out the g/u/n.
