Then she confessed.
My daughter had been born perfectly healthy, with very light hair, just like mine.
But the chief doctor had secretly arranged to sell her to a wealthy couple desperate for a newborn.
They had already paid a large amount of money.
And because the hospital had no other newborn with albinism or the same distinctive appearance, the doctor had ordered the nurses to bring me another mother’s dark-haired baby.
He planned to convince me that my daughter simply looked different from me.
The other mother was recovering from surgery and had been told her newborn needed special observation.
Both of us had been deceived.
I couldn’t breathe.
“Where is my daughter?” I sobbed.
The nurse looked toward the hallway.
“They moved her to a private room near the service exit.”
The officers immediately rushed downstairs.
But minutes later, one returned with devastating news.
“The room is empty.”
