My Husband Made Me Drink the Same Vodka With Him Every Night for 40 Years. One Night, I Refused—and He Became Furious. The Next Day, I Took What Was Left in My Glass to a Lab. The Doctor Looked at the Results, Turned Pale

I stared at him.

“No… I don’t think so.”

“Did you ever lose consciousness?”

I froze.

Suddenly, I remembered something.

During the first year of our marriage, I had fainted twice.

Once, I had even been taken to the hospital.

But it had happened so long ago that I barely remembered it anymore.

“Yes,” I said quietly.

The doctor turned one of the papers toward me.

“We found a very small amount of medication in the sample.”

I stopped breathing.

“This is not poison,” he continued. “It appears to be an older type of medication that was once used for certain seizure-related or heart-rhythm conditions. The amount is very small.”

I stared at him.

“So George has been… giving me medicine?”

Dr. Harris nodded.

“That appears to be the case. But that does not mean giving someone medication without properly discussing it with them is acceptable. You need to speak with him and confirm the history with your doctor.”
