My Divorced Neighbor Told Me, ‘I’m Going to Take Your Husband, so You’d Better Prepare for Divorce’ – I Decided to Teach Her a Lesson in a Way Only Another Woman Could

“And that’s why she has leverage.”

I rented time in a licensed commercial kitchen across town, an expensive fluorescent place that smelled like bleach, and moved what work I could there.

When Vanessa texted, Are you ready to do the right thing? I answered with three words.

We’ll be there.

The HOA meeting took place in the community room. Vanessa spoke first.

She described herself as a lonely divorced woman who had accepted help from a neighbor and then been humiliated in her own backyard by his jealous wife.

She mentioned my rule violation and the screenshots she’d already shared.

We’ll be there.

Then I stood.

“She’s right about the garage,” I said.

Vanessa’s head snapped toward me.

“It wasn’t approved for commercial use. That’s on us. I’ve stopped baking there, refunded customers, rented another kitchen, and started the proper approval process.”

I looked directly at her.

“She’s right about the garage,”

“So there’s nothing left to bargain with.”

Vanessa recovered quickly.

“This isn’t about the garage. It’s about your husband leading me on.”

I sat down, and Irvin stood.

“She’s partly right about me too,” he said. “I should’ve set boundaries sooner. I kept helping after I knew she was flirting, and that was my mistake.”

For a few seconds, Vanessa looked almost triumphant.
