My daughter demanded the three million dollars from the sale of my farm, and when I refused, my oldest son punched me hard enough to break a rib. K – usnews

Folders appeared across the screen.

Bank statements.

Vendor contracts.

Insurance correspondence.

And a video.

Daniel appeared on the screen, seated behind his desk in the farm office. He looked thinner than I remembered but still strong.

“If you’re watching this,” he said, “I probably didn’t get enough time.”

I covered my mouth.

His voice filled the room.

He explained that he had traced several suspicious transactions to a consulting company called Vantage Meridian.

Priya began typing.

“Vantage,” she murmured. “V.”

Daniel continued.

“The company’s registered agent is Victor Hale.”

My eyes closed.

Victor had known Daniel.

Not personally, perhaps.

But he had targeted us before Daniel’s d/e/@/th.

Daniel looked directly into the camera.

“I don’t know how deep this goes. I’m sending copies to our accountant, but I don’t fully trust him either. Evelyn, if the accounts are clean when you see this, then I was wrong. I hope I was wrong.”
