My daughter demanded the three million dollars from the sale of my farm, and when I refused, my oldest son punched me hard enough to break a rib. K – usnews

Samuel went outside.

A few minutes later, Rachel and Marcus were escorted back to the porch, each accompanied by an officer.

Marcus’s expensive jacket was wrinkled. His hair had fallen across his forehead, and the confidence that had made him seem larger than everyone around him had disappeared.

Rachel looked smaller too.

Not innocent.

Not helpless.

Simply exposed.

Samuel stood at the bottom of the porch steps.

“You demanded information concerning the proceeds from the sale of your mother’s farm,” he said. “Ms. Carter has authorized me to provide a limited explanation.”

Marcus immediately spoke.

“She’s being manipulated. She has never understood finance.”

Samuel did not even glance at him.

“The property was sold this morning for three million dollars.”

Rachel looked at me.

“So the money exists.”

“It existed for approximately one minute,” Samuel replied.

Marcus frowned.

“What does that mean?”

“The proceeds were transferred into the Daniel and Evelyn Carter Agricultural Trust.”
